Enigma: Gravity Of Love

By Ralf Spengler (Ralf.Spengler@bku.db.de), November 24, 1999

I really have it!! Yeah! I have the new Maxi-CD from Enigma Gravity of love! Here's my first opinion about after hearing it for perhaps 15 times:

Radio Edit

I think it's a little bit too slow to get often played in radio. And beeing on promotion in Germany for several weeks I can't hear it or see the video anywhere. Sad but true, I think I'm right, that it'll be not a great radio success. But lets wait and see what the sales will bring. I like the voice of Ruth-Ann on this track but I also miss the voice of Sandra. But I mean she's heard in the background - like eyerytime - breathing!

Judgement Day Club Mix

I prefer this version of the song. I think it's a mixture between Age of loneliness - Enigmatic Club Mix and T.A.A.W.'s Chase - DJ Quicksilver Remix. This version contains as lyrics only the sentence "The path of excess leads to the tower of wisdom." and the sample "O fortuna, velut luna.". This will be often repeat. After about 5 minutes there comes the part "Try to think about it. That's the chance to live your life and discover what it is." At the end you can hear the words "Turn around!" The song is very powerful and danceable - I like it!

Dark Vocal Club Mix

Also a very powerful version with a slower entry and after perhaps 1 minute going over to a danceable track. It contains the whole text of the song only without the sentence "The path of excess leads to the tower of wisdom.". But I don't know, hwy it's called Dark Vocal Club Mix - I don't think, that this version is very dark and the voice is also the same as on the two other tracks.

I think the new song is a good appetizer for the album, but in my opinion it would need a faster and more recognizable Radio Edit to become a Hit. But every Enigma-fan HAS to buy it - I think it'll fit your dreams.
