The first reports of a fourth Enigma album come, as a US record store
chain lists a release for as early as July or August 1998
- August 8, 1998:
Enigma's manager states that Enigma 4 will be released in February
1999. Virgin Records have not confirmed a release date
- August 9, 1998:
A little bit more is heard about this fourth album: a release in
February 1999 with a single expected in December 1998; Michael Cretu
and Sandra will sing; and international artists are involved
- November 4, 1998:
Earlier reports of a release date in February 1999 are to be considered
as rumours. Virgin have provisionally scheduled for a release in late
1999 - Michael Cretu is still working on the album
- January 10, 1999:
Donna Lewis has said to fans that she will work with Michael Cretu for
the next album and be featured on it
- June 14, 1999:
Andru Donalds, an artist Michael Cretu has recently produced, reveals
in an interview that he will appear on the fourth Enigma album
- August 9, 1999:
Virgin reports that the album is scheduled for release in January 2000.
The album is still "in production"
- September 24, 1999:
The first single from the album is announced: Gravity Of
Love, with a tentative release date of November 15
- October 8, 1999:
A Canadian online record store lists the fourth Enigma album as
"The Screen Behind The Mirror"
- October 11, 1999:
Virgin Records and Enigma's manager both confirm the title of the album
- The Screen Behind The Mirror - and that participants
will include Andru Donalds and Ruth-Ann Boyle
- October 12, 1999:
The world-wide release date is confirmed to be January 17, 2000
- October 31, 1999:
Jens Gad appears on the album as engineer and performer
- November 9, 1999:
The track listing of the album is revealed
- November 21, 1999:
Virgin presents the "official" track listing, showing some
minor changes to the one revealed earlier
- December 14, 1999:
The artists to be featured on the album are confirmed
