January 24, 2000: Speaking from the MIDEM 2000 music conference in Cannes, France, Michael Cretu participated in an Internet chat. During nearly two hours he answered questions from a large group of fans. One of the most frequently asked questions was what the next single from the new album will be - to which he didn't want to give a set answer. One future release was mentioned though; towards Christmas there will be an Enigma video compilation released on DVD format, with "some surprises".

When asked what his favourite albums are, he answered the first and the fourth Enigma album, which he calls "brother and sister". Aside from Enigma, Cretu says there'll be more music from Sandra sometime in the coming years; and he has no plans for producing albums with vocalist Ruth-Ann or her group Olive. He does however plan to work more with Andru Donalds.

Another popular question was the one about a live performance for Enigma. To this he answered that a one-off concert may happen some day. He also has some ideas for the fifth Enigma album already, but obviously won't reveal these now. Some more tidbits were that he does not travel to collect all the samples, that Trance Atlantic Air Waves is not a single album project, and that his favourite movie is "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".

In all, some 130 participants were present for the chat, and Michael Cretu had an enjoyable time. He was also present for a similar chat in December 1996 with the release of the third Enigma album, but it seems this was a better one than the last.
